Echo Ridge is known for producing award winning Semillon.
Our 2007 Vintage was exceptionally good, having won a Gold Medal at the 2008 Clear Image Hunter Valley Wine Show, and has now become a favourite on the wine lists of restaurants such as Glass (Hilton Hotel), Aria, Becasse & Buon Ricordo. Our 2009 Vintage have just won back to backSilver Medals at the Cowra and prestigious Hunter Valley Wine Shows (July & August 2009).
Most examples of these bottle-aged Hunter Semillons exhibit a buttercup-yellow colour, burnt toast or honey characteristics on the nose and excellent complex flavours on the palate, with a long finish and soft acid. Young Hunter Valley semillon is almost always a dry wine, usually exhibiting citrus flavours of Lemon, Lime or Green Apple.
Our Semillon is grown on well-drained sandy loam soils located in the heart of Pokolbin's wine country N.S.W. The vineyard has drip irrigation installed on each vine row to ensure vine health and consistency of quality. The crop yields are relatively low, producing excellent concentration of fruit flavour.
